In this role, the sky, really is the limit and you will be expected to actively engage with new processes and implementation of your own ideas. This is a customer focused role to provide effective support across the HR function with particular focus on engagement with stakeholders, staff and external providers, ensuring a quality service is delivered at all times.

 Key accountabilities, duties and responsibilities:

 

  • To build strong working relationships with your Head of Education Provisions and act as a single HR point of contact for your individual Education Provision driving the business performance forward
  • To advise on and implement HR policies effectively , such as working practices, recruitment, absence management, accurate pay, Equality & Diversity and terms and conditions of employment
  • To guarantee accurate and timely advice and guidance on policies and procedures, including, pay, terms and conditions and employment legislation
  • To promote Equality & Diversity and ensure consistency across the Organisation
  • To support the Senior HR Manager with actively implementing the E&D objectives 
  • To ensure the most accurate HR data to help and support them making sound and detailed decisions on their staff teams
  • Reporting any themes and trends identified to the HRM regarding any skill gaps for training & development and employment law areas of opportunity
  • To advise on the required response to statutory changes in workplace legislation and ensure policies and processes reflect the changes and are up to date
  • Complete regular HR 1:1 meetings to discuss HR KPI’s and Employee Relation cases
  • Line manage a HR Officer and ensure all reviews are completed on time and their training is up to date
  • To ensure staff well-being is maintained through an active support role with a view to minimising both authorised and unauthorised absence
  • To be responsible for planning, updating and monitoring of HR systems, procedures and policies
  • Oversee the smooth running of our recruitment procedures, in line with ‘Safer Recruitment’ processes. This includes preparing/ supporting on advertisements, job descriptions, setting up interview panels with candidates and governors and overseeing the administration duties of these processes, where appropriate
  • To support with recruitment needs demonstrating discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • To oversee manual and computerised records to assist with accurate payroll administration from the HR department and produce reports and analysis when required and in line with HR KPI’s
  • To oversee the process for ‘new starters’, this includes ensuring all information is obtained and accurate before processing, using the appropriate computerised systems to ensure the HR systems are reflective of exact data on each member of staff
  • Oversee the process of issuing all new staff information/ induction packs, ensuring all relevant paperwork is signed and filed correctly
  • To take responsibility for coordinating Probationary reviews and Appraisal processes , advising and coaching where necessary
  • To lead on updating and maintaining specific data on the HR system including; absence monitoring, terms & condition of employment changes and training
  • To ensure Contracts of Employment and associated amendments to contracts are processed in accordance with statutory timescales and department processes, raising any concerns to the HRM, if required
  • To lead in formal capability, grievance, absence review and disciplinary meetings
  • To be responsible for administering Exit Questionnaires and providing them with an opportunity to discuss their departure face-to-face, providing an analysis of information to the HRM, identifying any areas for improving retention of staff and necessary actions
  • Informing members of staff of their employment rights and entitlements and keeping them up to date on any changes that are made
  • To proactively ensure your employment law knowledge and practice is up to date at all times, advising accordingly on the changes with the HRM
  • To undertake any other responsibilities as reasonably requested by the SHRM/ HRM

Continual Professional Development (CPD):

  • Under the guidance of the SHRM/ HRM, identify and complete regular and relevant CPD and training
  • Maintain an up to date awareness of current employment law and HR best practice

 Safeguarding:

  • Attend all safeguarding training as required for your position, this including safer recruitment
  • Understand and apply Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines in all aspects of the recruitment process
  • As directed by the HR Manager, attend any internal meetings on compliance and the Single Central Register
  • To comply with and assist with the procedures relating to child protection, Health and Safety, confidentiality and data protection at all times

Upcoming Projects:

  • Working with the HRM to implement a new starter induction, whereby each new starter will have their first day within HR on site and complete the necessary paperwork
  • Implement a staff survey to reflect collating accurate E&D data and ensuring feedback is shared in a timely manner with an emphasis on staff wellbeing
  • Designing a recruitment strategy fit for purpose and taking into account, seasonal peaks for advertising/ attracting new talent into the organisation
  • Continuous training for the HR department, identifying and communicating any areas of opportunities for best practice
  • Supporting the HRM with the implementation of a new HR system.
