Our client provides an inclusive education for children and young adults with special educational needs.

This crucial HR role will be supporting our continued growth organisation. They guarantee everyday will be different, the learning and experience this role will deliver is second to none.

You will be working closely with our individual Education Provisions and ensuring the HR brand and service is paramount to supporting the organisations growth.

 With your flexible working approach, you will support strong sustainability and consistency practices to the organisation and work innovatively to continually improve the HR service to the organisation. In this role, the sky, really is the limit and you will be expected to actively lead on new processes and implement your own ideas. This is a customer focused role to provide effective support across the HR function with particular focus on engagement with stakeholders, staff and external providers, ensuring a quality service is delivered at all times.

Key accountabilities, duties and responsibilities:

 

  • To build strong working relationships with Head of Education Provisions and act as a single point of contact for escalation matters within the HR department ensuring at all times we are driving the business performance forward
  • To advise on and implement HR policies effectively within the Education Provisions / Services, such as working practices, recruitment, absence management, accurate pay, Equality & Diversity (E&D) and terms and conditions of employment
  • Work in partnership with the Payroll Manager to ensure the HR and Payroll brands are delivering excellence in everything they do
  • To guarantee accurate and timely advice and guidance on policies and procedures, including, pay, terms and conditions and employment legislation
  • To promote Equality & Diversity consistently across the Organisation
  • To support the Senior HR Manager with actively implementing the E&D objectives 
  • To ensure the most accurate HR data for their Service, to help and support them making sound and detailed decisions on their staff teams
  • Reporting any themes, trends and patterns identified through the HR Advisor’s to the SHRM regarding any skill gaps for training & development and employment law areas of opportunity
  • To advise on the required response to statutory changes in workplace legislation and ensure policies and processes reflect the changes and are up to date
  • Ensure all reviews are completed on time and training is up to date 
  • To ensure staff well-being is maintained through an active support role with a view to minimising both authorised and unauthorised absence.
  • To be responsible for planning, updating and monitoring of HR systems, procedures and policies
  • Oversee the smooth running of our recruitment procedures and processes
  • To support with recruitment needs, demonstrating discretion and confidentiality at all times with support from the Recruitment Officer
  • To ensure manual and computerised records are accurate at all times to produce reports and analysis when required and in line with HR KPI’s
  • Ensure the payroll administration process is accurate and reflective through the HR Advisors and HR Officers
  • To oversee the process for ‘new starters’, this includes ensuring all information is obtained and accurate before processing, using the appropriate computerised HR systems to ensure the payroll systems is reflective of exact data on each member of staff
  • To take responsibility for coordinating Probationary reviews and Appraisal processes for the Education, advising and coaching where necessary
  • To ensure Contracts of Employment are accurate and reflective of any legislation changes and are processed in accordance with statutory timescales and department processes, raising any concerns to the SHRM, if required
  • To assist in formal capability, grievance, absence review and disciplinary meetings  where required and directed by the SHRM
  • To be responsible for obtaining feedback and then analysis of staff leavers with Exit Questionnaires and advising on any areas for improving retention of staff and necessary actions
  • Informing members of staff of their employment rights and entitlements and keeping them up to date on any changes that are made
  • Deputise in the absence of the SHRM
  • To undertake any other responsibilities as reasonably requested by the SHRM

Line management responsibilities:

  • This role will directly line manage 3 members of the HR team, these include:

o   2x HR Advisor’s, 

o   A Recruitment Officer 

  • Complete regular HR 1:1 meetings with your direct team and ensure all 1:1 meetings are completed within the HR team
  • Directly lead the HR team, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring regular team meetings take place with documented actions
  • Ensure accurate and timely performance management is completed with each team member and identify any training needs within the team and wider organisation
  • Certify each team member has an Individual Performance Plan fit for their role and personal development 
  • Guarantee the HR team training is valid and up to date with timeframes for completion.

 Continual Professional Development (CPD):

  • Under the guidance of the SHRM, identify and complete regular and relevant CPD and training
  • Maintain an up to date awareness of current employment law and HR best practice

 Safeguarding:

  • Attend all safeguarding training as required for your position, this including safer recruitment
  • Understand and apply Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines in all aspects of the recruitment process
  • As directed by the SHRM, attend any internal meetings on compliance, ensuring the Single Central Register is up to date
  • To comply with and assist with the procedures relating to child protection, Health and Safety, confidentiality and data protection at all times
